More Than an Academic Obligation: How KKN Shaped My Perspective on Teamwork, Collaboration, and Community
Hi everyone! I’d love to share a little bit story about my experience during the KKN in Ganggangpanjang Village.
First, let me introduce myself. My name is Adji Maulana, a 6th-semester student, Faculty of Computer Science, Narotama University, Surabaya. During this KKN, I was assigned to the logistics division, and my job was to make sure all the tools and equipment needed for each program were available and ready to use.
But thankfully, I wasn’t completely alone. My Friends from other divisions often helped me out whenever I needed a hand, whether it was carrying equipment, setting things up, and ordering foods for our events. I'm super grateful for their support. Without them, I definitely couldn’t have handled everything by myself. So big shoutout to all of them.
We carried out our KKN activities for two weeks, and within that short time, we had several main programs. One of them was helping the villagers use a digital service app called SiPraja. This app helps villagers take care of administrative services more easily. We assisted the villagers in learning how to use it, from registering to submitting documents. Many of them weren’t very familiar with tech, but with a patient and friendly approach, they slowly got the hang of it.
Another program we ran was a content creator sharing session with the youth in the village. The idea was to introduce them to the digital world and show them how content creation can open up new opportunities. But honestly, we had a hard time finding enough participants because our planning wasn’t well-prepared and felt a bit rushed.
Luckily, our public relations (HUMAS) team was amazing. They were super quick and responsive. They reach out to the local youth group, spread the word, and even approached people personally. Thanks to their hard work, we managed to gather at least half of our target audience, and the session turned out really fun and engaging. Huge credit to them for turning things around!
We also worked on promoting one of the local tourist spots, Punden Mbah Retjo. Alongside the documentation team, we visited the location, took photos and videos, and turned them into content for social media like Instagram and TikTok. Our goal was to help the place get more exposure and hopefully attract more visitors in the future.
These two weeks of KKN taught me a lot, not just about teamwork and running programs, but also about adapting to new environments, connecting with the local community, and handling real-world challenges. And one thing I learned for sure is that a solid and proactive team like our humas division really makes a difference.
Even though it was a short time, this experience left a big impact on me. It’s something I’ll always remember as part of my journey as a college student. Thanks to the whole team for making everything happen smoothly in this KKN activity.
