My Journey In Ganggangpanjang: Stories, Aspirations, And Experience
Let me introduce myself, my full name is Rohimah Ramadhani Rizqi Gimnastiar, but most people know me as Mima. I’m currently a student at Narotama University in Surabaya, and I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to participate in the KKN (Community Service Program) in Ganggangpanjang Village in 2025.
From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the local residents. One of the most memorable parts of our first day was when we visited the village hall without hesitation, the village officials invited us to tour Ganggangpanjang and engage directly with the community. This immediate sense of inclusion made me feel comfortable and eager to contribute.
Throughout the KKN program, I was involved in several work programs aimed at empowering the community. One of the most thrilling parts of the experience was being given the opportunity to be a speaker for one of our initiatives. Although it was my first time speaking in such a setting, and I was quite nervous, it turned out to be a valuable and exciting learning moment. It helped build my confidence and communication skills.
Besides public speaking, I also learned a great deal about village administration. I worked alongside village officials and assisted local residents in accessing and using the SIPRAJA app, an important tool for public services. This experience gave me insight into how digital tools can help improve public access to government services, especially in rural areas.
Ganggangpanjang Village, particularly Dusun Luwung, has great potential in tourism. I had the chance to explore some of its natural beauty and unique culture, and a lot of culinary must to try, and I believe it could attract many visitors if promoted well. However, I hope that not only Dusun Luwung, but also the other part of Ganggangpanjang can be developed into tourist destinations. Each area has its own charm and local wisdom that deserves recognition.
My hope for Ganggangpanjang is that it won’t just become known among local travelers, but that it will continue to grow and gain popularity even at the international level. With proper development, promotion, and continued collaboration between local leaders and youth, I truly believe this village has the potential to shine on a much larger stage.
Being part of this program was not just about giving back to the community, but also about growing as an individual. I’m incredibly grateful for the experience, it taught me how to be confident, teamwork, communication, and the importance of cultural connection. It’s a memory I’ll carry with me for a lifetime.
