A Colorful KKN in Ganggangpanjang Village: From Punden Mbah Retjo to Creative Content

Hello everyone, I want to share a little about my experience during the Community Service Program (KKN) at Ganggangpanjang Village, Tanggulangin Subdistrict, Sidoarjo Regency. But first, let me introduce myself, my name is Ardhia Fasha Bening Safhabil, you can call me Fasha, and I am a student in the Information Systems study program at Narotama University Surabaya.

This KKN has truly been one of the most exciting and memorable experiences during my college years. For about two weeks, my team and I worked in Ganggangpanjang Village, a village full of uniqueness, warmth, and incredible potential. One of the main attractions here is Punden Mbah Retjo, a local tourist spot quite famous in the Sidoarjo area.

The moment I first stepped into this tourist area, I was amazed. Imagine, in the middle of a simple village, there is a complete family-friendly tourist spot with free entrance. There’s a mini train that passes over the river, an aesthetic bridge perfect for photos, painting areas, fishing spots, sand play areas, playgrounds, and even a live music stage every weekend. Not to mention the many affordable food stalls offering delights like rujak cingur, lontong kupang, cilok, tahu walik, es kuwut, and fresh juice—all enjoyed while relaxing by the rice fields. It felt like a mini vacation but with the authentic village vibe.

Our KKN activities became even more exciting because our main focus was to expose and promote Punden Mbah Retjo tourism. We helped the village by creating photo and video documentation and writing promotional captions. We also organized a creative content competition themed around tourism to encourage the villagers, especially the youth, to actively introduce their village to the wider world.

Besides tourism promotion, we also provided assistance in using SiPraja, a digital public service platform from Sidoarjo Regency, at the village hall. We helped villagers from registration to using the application for administrative needs such as submitting letters or reporting issues.

Another exciting activity was the sharing session about the world of content creators. We shared some tips on making interesting content using smartphones, basic editing skills, and how to utilize social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels for promoting local businesses or village activities.

Ganggangpanjang Village and Punden Mbah Retjo will always hold a special place in my heart. This KKN was not just about completing a college program but about building connections, broadening perspectives, and witnessing firsthand the incredible strength that comes from a village.
